Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) stated he’s going to plan a gathering with Division of Authorities Effectivity (DOGE)’s chief Elon Musk and Home Republicans someday quickly.
Johnson met with Musk on the White Home on Tuesday night. He informed reporters Thursday he has had a number of conversations with the tech billionaire, who has been tapped to slash federal spending by means of DOGE.
“We’re trying to figure out logistics, but he’s anxious to share what he’s finding, and a lot of things he’s told me in our private meetings, I said we have to make sure all the members understand the degree of the fraud, waste and abuse and how egregious it is,” Johnson stated.
He stated he hopes Musk can present lawmakers how hopeful they’re in regards to the modifications coming to the federal authorities and informed reporters to “stay tuned” on when the assembly can be.
“We’re going to propose some meeting times and dates and then have him over here to explain this to the members,” Johnson stated. “So, we’re looking forward to that.”
Musk has turn into one in all Trump’s closest allies and took part within the first Cupboard assembly alongside different division heads on Wednesday. His position in reshaping the federal authorities is an unprecedented and unelected one and has drawn criticism as DOGE cuts 1000’s of jobs and beneficial properties entry to numerous departments and companies.
Johnson can also meet with Senate Republicans, who not too long ago aired their considerations about Musk and his aggressive strategy with DOGE in a closed-door assembly.
Some complained there’s a lack of transparency coming from Musk and are involved that day-after-day there’s a new “surprise” from DOGE. Whereas others help his cuts to federal spending, dividing the caucus.
