Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) stated federal employees “don’t deserve” their paychecks throughout a Tuesday Home Oversight Committee listening to.
“Those are not real jobs producing federal revenue, by the way. They’re consuming taxpayer dollars. Those jobs are paid for by the American tax people, who work real jobs, earn real income, pay federal taxes, and then pay these federal employees,” Greene stated through the listening to.
“Federal employees do not deserve their jobs. Federal employees do not deserve their paychecks. And these are jobs that can be fired at will.”
Rep. Veronica Escobar (D-Texas) criticized Greene for casting apart the careers of her personal constituents, noting the variety of federal employees in Greene’s district.
“Marjorie Taylor Greene believes 6,008 of her constituents are unworthy of a job or a paycheck as a result of they work for the federal authorities,” Escobar wrote in a Tuesday post on X. “To cite her favourite particular person: SAD!”
Greene was responding to feedback from Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-Ailing.) urging the federal authorities to not privatize the U.S. Postal Service.
“These reviews are past troubling and I respectfully request that you’ve got a listening to once more on the USPS,” he told the House Oversight Committee. “No personal sector entity gives common service throughout the nation, and with out these letter carriers and others, greater than 51.5 million households and companies particularly in rural communities would haven’t any assured supply.”
Krishnamoothi earlier famous that the transition may throw “ trillions of {dollars} of ecommerce transactions into turmoil.”
Greene has staunch advocated layoffs of presidency employees by the Division of Authorities Effectivity (DOGE) led by Elon Musk.
